| Dr Jean Shanks was the main benefactor, and when she died left a generous legacy which now helps and supports many singers. The trust now sponsors the John Christie Award at Glyndebourne, The Glyndebourne Understudy Project, three awards at the Royal Academy of Music, and The Cardiff Singer of the World. | |||
| The trust also, on occasion, aids singers outside the recognised colleges, as well as helping young singers to perform in concert. | |||
